travel insurance
Hobnail requires that all trekkers have travel/medical insurance that includes helicopter evacuation and trekking at altitude. Emergency medical (helicopter) evacuation coverage should be a minimum of $500,000. In addition, travel insurance should include coverage for repatriation of remains, trip cancellation (at least as much as the total cost of your trek), medical services, delayed/canceled flights, and lost baggage.
Be sure to read your travel insurance policy carefully before purchasing. Travel insurance policies may have particular rules regarding pre-existing conditions, and separate policy restrictions related to COVID. Additionally, should you have to cancel your trek because of illness, injury, or death to you or an immediate family member, your travel insurance may protect your deposits and payments for both air and trek costs.
As a World Nomads affiliate, Hobnail Trekking receives a fee for any quotes generated via our link (there is no additional cost to you). Tap the World Nomads banner below to get a quote or purchase coverage through them if you so choose.
Whichever company you choose for insurance, you should ensure that the policy meets your individual needs based on your specific trip (altitude, duration, coverage amounts, etc.). You will need to provide Hobnail with a copy of the card (or whatever is provided in its place) prior to departure.
Please note that you should purchase travel insurance as soon as you place a deposit on a trek. Depending on what your individual policy states, doing so may provide you with the most comprehensive coverage for your trip.
