Interested in an epic, active adventure but not wanting to rough it at Everest Base Camp levels? We got you.

Our Amalfi Coast Expedition is a perfect compromise between comfort and challenge, and takes you into the heart of Italy’s most iconic coastline. This isn’t a passive tour bus vacation. This is active immersion where your boots hit ancient Roman paths, the vistas are usually filled with Mediterranean blues, and your mouth is rarely empty thanks to the daily parade of lemon-scented seafood, handmade pasta, and red wine that tastes like it materialized from a Renaissance painting. (OK, I like to imaging that Renaissance wine was really, really good.)

So, what’s the trekking like?

Let’s start with this: you don’t need to be a mountaineer. This trek is considered moderate, with a good mix of well-marked trails, stone staircases (some with very enthusiastic elevation), and rolling coastal paths that have connected fishing villages and hillside farms for centuries.

Each day brings a new landscape — lemon groves, cliffside terraces, olive orchards, and crazy turquoise sea views. And yes, there are challenging uphill sections, but they come with gelato at the end. Fair trade, right?

We hike at a steady, enjoyable pace, with plenty of time to stop for espresso, marvel at a crumbling medieval tower, or pet a stray cat that may just be the mayor of its village.

Scenic Overload, In the Best Way

You’ll explore places like Ravello, with its world-famous gardens and drop-dead views over the Tyrrhenian Sea, and Positano, the cliff-hugging town where even the staircases are photogenic. Then there’s Valle delle Ferriere, a lush protected valley with waterfalls, rare plants, and an eerie calm that makes you forget you’re just a short distance from Amalfi’s bustling streets.

And of course, no trek here is complete without the Sentiero degli Dei, or Path of the Gods. With sea views on one side and limestone peaks on the other, it’s one of Europe’s most beautiful trails — and yes, it lives up to the hype.

A Side of Culture with Your Steps

Along the way, you’ll learn how this region has been shaped by Greek settlers, Roman engineers, Moorish pirates, and medieval traders. Every stone stairway and hillside vineyard has a story. Our local guide will help bring the culture to life, so you don’t just see the Amalfi Coast; you understand it.

You’ll also visit working farms and sample limoncello made from real Amalfi lemons, buffalo mozzarella so fresh it barely sits still, and maybe even get a peek into someone’s backyard wine cellar. Italians are proud of their heritage and, lucky for us, they love to share it.

Did Someone Say Food?

Let me be clear: this is a trek for people who like to eat.

From seaside trattorias to mountain rifugios, the meals are as unforgettable as the trails. Expect fresh seafood, wood-fired pizzas, and pasta dishes that make you question every spaghetti decision you’ve ever made. (And ask my wife — I’m a spaghetti snob.) You’ll enjoy daily dinners together as a group, which means great conversation, local wine, and more than a few toasts to “la dolce vita.”

And oh, did I mention that you’ll be spending every night in an incredible 4-star hotel like this one? Ooooh, baby…

The Bottom Line

The Amalfi Coast Expedition is a feast for the senses — with just enough sweat to make every bite, sip, and sunset feel well-earned. You’ll come home not only with killer photos and stronger calves, but also with a deeper connection to Italy’s coastal soul.

So if you’ve got a decent pair of hiking shoes, a healthy appetite, and a curiosity for the world beyond the postcards, move this adventure to the top of your list.
